Setting it up is simple using the built-in Easy Setup Assistant. Follow this guide to get your internet connection running quickly. Prepare the Hardware
Connect your devices properly before running the setup software.
Power: Plug the power adapter into the router and a wall outlet.
DSL Line: Connect the telephone line to the grey ADSL port. Use the provided ADSL splitter if you share the line with a telephone.
Computer Connection: Plug an Ethernet cable into any yellow LAN port. Connect the other end to your computer.
Turn On: Press the power button on the back of the router. Wait for the lights to stabilize. Run the Easy Setup Assistant
You can configure the device using the CD provided in the box or through a web browser. Method 1: Using the Resource CD Insert the TD-W8961NB resource CD into your computer. Select your language from the menu. Click on Easy Setup Assistant.
Follow the step-by-step visual instructions to check your hardware connections. Method 2: Using the Web Management Interface Open a web browser on your connected computer. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press Enter. Enter admin for both the username and password. Click on Quick Start from the top menu. Click the Run Wizard button. Configure Internet and Wireless Settings
The setup wizard will guide you through the critical network settings.
Time Zone: Select your local time zone to keep router logs accurate.
ISP Connection Type: Choose the connection type required by your Internet Service Provider. Most ADSL providers use PPPoE or PPPoA.
ISP Parameters: Enter the specific VPI and VCI numbers provided by your internet provider. Enter your connection username and password.
Wireless Settings: Turn the Access Point Activated. Create a personalized network name (SSID).
Wireless Security: Choose WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK encryption. Create a strong Wi-Fi password to protect your network. Save and Complete
Click Save or Next to apply your changes. The router will restart to activate the configuration. Test your connection by opening a new browser window and visiting a website.
