Why You Should Hide Cloud Drive and How to Do It

You can hide or remove cluttering cloud drives (such as OneDrive or iCloud) from the Windows File Explorer sidebar using several different methods. The five easiest and most effective ways to do this range from quick, non-destructive setting adjustments to advanced system registry modifications. 1. Toggle File Attributes to “Hidden”

The fastest way to make a cloud drive folder disappear without breaking any sync functionalities is to flag its properties as hidden. Open File Explorer and locate your main cloud drive folder. Right-click the folder and select Properties.

In the General tab under the Attributes section, check the box for Hidden. Click Apply and then OK.

Note: The folder will completely vanish from the directory unless you have turned on “Show Hidden Files” in your File Explorer View options. 2. Unlink the Cloud Account

If you do not intend to actively use the cloud drive on that computer, unlinking your account will automatically strip its custom icon out of the navigation panel.

Click the cloud icon (e.g., OneDrive) in your Windows system tray. Open Help & Settings (the gear icon) and select Settings. Navigate to the Account tab. Click Unlink this PC and confirm your choice. 3. Modify the Windows Registry (IsPinned Hack)

For cloud items that stubbornly remain anchored to your left-hand sidebar navigation pane, a quick edit inside the Registry Editor will hide them from view permanently.
